Abstract:
In outbreak of COVID-19, the UAE Government took several steps to control its spread. measures included suspending prayers in all places of worship.
With mosques in the UAE set to reopen to worshippers for prayers in December 2020, the Dubai Health Authority has issued a list of safety conditions to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.
The new protocol has assigned relevant authorities on mosques to monitor any violations by people coming for prayers, as well as ensure the cleaning and sanitization mosques.
The aim of this study to evaluate the new protocol after opining the mosques to maintaining the health and safety of worshipers and to avoid the infection moreover to take advantage of them when designing new Mosques or rehabilitating existing mosques to become ready to work in emergency conditions.
The new protocol stipulates the worshippers wear masks, respecting two meter social distance between worshippers and carry their own prayer mats and Qura'ans, also the worshippers must perform ablution at home and avoid touching exposed surfaces. The authority called on elderly, and those suffering from chronic diseases as well as people with weak immunity to pray from home.
The safety environment includes opening ablution areas, but a closed ablution tub must be in place between two open tubs. Cleaning, sanitizing toilets and ablution areas before every prayer, sanitizers should be available at the exits of ablution areas, toilet paper must be provided, the mosques closed after every prayer, and no one will be allowed to stay inside the mosque.
Workers in mosques must print guideline flyers about the precautionary measures in Arabic, English and Urdu, he noted.

In conclusion, the UAE used health and safety strategies that will help in the safe operation of mosque during the future, that help in the improvement and development the buildings. also providing health and safety awareness programs to worshippers is paramount.
