Paper Abstract

Abstract: The mosque is a place of worship with particular convictions that profoundly enhance the community's inherent spirituality. This suggests that the study tends to undervalue the mosque's ability to serve numerous functions in emergency situations following a natural disaster. Part of the evaluation process involves assessing a mosque's ability to respond to disasters as well as the initiatives to look into and carry out the duties and tasks. Bangladesh's coastline is acknowledged as one of the most disaster-prone areas because of its geographic location and the effects of climate change. The region is frequently struck by numerous natural disasters, such as storms, cyclones, landslides, and tsunamis, which leave the coastal population homeless. In Bangladesh, there are more than 300,000 mosques that can provide refuge for anyone in need during a crisis. The main objective of this research was to evaluate and document the mosques' contributions to disaster relief and management in areas like Dacop that have experienced flooding. Findings from the qualitative analysis used in the review process were derived from the experiences of specialists operating in flood-affected areas. The evaluation's conclusions indicate that the mosque is among the most important flood management centers and has the potential to develop into a major post-flood management hub. Keywords: Coastal area, Multi-functionality, Religious space
