Personal Biography
In 2000, Dr. Zainab Hussein Ra’ouf started her academic career as a faculty member at the Dept. of Architectural Engineering, University of technology in Baghdad. With more than twenty years of academic experience, she has been involved in teaching Islamic architecture, programming architectural spaces, acoustics utilities, Iraqi traditional architecture, in addition to design studios in various capacities at the University of Technology in Baghdad. In addition, Dr. Zainab focuses on enhancing the student’ capacity in design decision making and concept by embodiment architectural ideas with traditional and Islamic values that characterized identity of local and Arab society, in addition to adopt international contemporary technologies to create Islamic aesthetic patterns in models which enhanced contemporary local identity.so the field of her teaching include(Architectural Design, Islamic technics, Islamic and traditional values, local Iraqi architecture, Theory of architecture, Interior design, Islamic and traditional vocabularies and technologies, Heritage and vernacular architecture, Sustainable architecture, Theory of architecture).

Abstract:
The impact of the regional locality emerged within traditional mosques through adopting the environmental factor within its cultural and natural contexts. This was represented in the form of (elements, construction system, way of covering, or spatial organization), The nature of functions of the local regional feature ranged between (climatic and environmental/semantic/constructional/decorative), and the location of the impact of local feature (horizontal plans/internal and external facades/constructional system). In light of the contemporary architectural products that reflect the general atmosphere of technological globalization and represent global products within their context, parametric mosques emerged as a building style that adopted the environmental factor as one of the basic principles of their parametric design. From here, the question arose about the extent of the relationship between regionalism and contemporary parametric mosques,so the research problem was represented by (the limited knowledge about local regionalism and its relationship to contemporary parametric mosques). The research objective was to determine the regional specificity with its factors within parametric mosques first, and the ( form, function and location) of its reflection within parametric mosques second. The research reached to the limited impact of the cultural contextual factor on the one hand, while the effects of regionalism continued in its natural context on the other hand, and this appeared in various vocabularies within which the climatic and environmental function was rooted at the expense of other functions.
