EMAD HANI ISMAEEL ALALLAF ‎24/12/1971 – Mosul, Iraq ‎•‎ Assoc. Professor, 2013, Department of Architecture, College of ‎Engineering, University of Mosul ‎•‎ Specialist in Urban Design - Conservation, Technology for Exploiting the Built Heritage ‎ ‎•‎ Faculty member since 2002.‎ ‎•‎ Ph.D. in Design & Technology for Exploiting the Built Heritage, 2010, ‎Politecnico di Milano, Italy. ‎Entitled: “Meta Modelling For The Conservation ‎Of The Cultural Heritage”. ‎ ‎•‎ He worked as an international consultant and expert for a number of international organizations, such ‎as ICCROM, UNDP, UNESCO, and ALECSO.‎ ‎•‎ Visiting Scholar in a research project, Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, ‎Germany,2019.‎ ‎•‎ He has more than 40 research papers published in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences.‎ ‎•‎ Author of 10 engineering and architectural books‎ ‎•‎ Coordinator and lecturer for a number of educational courses, workshops and scientific seminars ‎•‎ He taught the subjects of architectural design, urban design, exterior space design, interior design, ‎computer applications, architectural documentation, the basics of Urban preservation, and free drawing ‎for preliminary studies, and theories of urban design, advanced design, and advanced architectural ‎computer software for postgraduate studies.‎

Paper Abstract

AI applications have been increasingly used in historic building conservation, ‎including structural health monitoring, damage assessment, public engagement, and ‎ethical considerations. This paper explores the role of AI in the preventive and ‎planning conservation of historic mosques. It investigates the potential of integrating ‎AI with Building Information Modeling (HBIM) to enhance the preservation of ‎historic buildings in post-conflict reconstruction contexts. The study highlights the ‎challenges and opportunities presented by such environments and how AI can ‎facilitate damage assessment, material analysis, structural health monitoring, and ‎informed decisions regarding restoration and conservation efforts. The paper aims to ‎provide a comprehensive overview of how AI with HBIM can be used to conserve ‎and revitalize historic buildings, contributing to post-conflict reconstruction and ‎cultural heritage conservation. The research is conducted in an analytical and applied ‎manner in order to achieve the stated research objectives.‎
