Personal Biography
Naeera Ali is an accomplished interior architect based in Benoy, London. With a solid foundation in architecture and a master's degree in interior architecture and adaptive reuse from the esteemed Rhode Island School of Design. Having worked in New York, Porto, London, and India for over four years, Naeera has honed her expertise in adaptive reuse and Islamic architecture in Calicut, India, as well as commercial, residential, and urban design projects. Notably, she has conducted research on the mosques in Kuttichira and played a pivotal role in developing and implementing signage boards in Mishkal Mosque, India. Her commitment to staying at the forefront of architectural trends and technologies is evident through her roles as a lecturer at the DG School of Architecture in Calicut and a mentor at the Royal College of Architecture in London. Naeera's contributions have significantly impacted the field, as she continues to share her professional expertise with students, fostering a culture of design excellence.
Paper Abstract
Numerous studies and findings have been done on the various examples of the Monuments of Indo-Islamic art and Architecture. These structures have always been in the limelight because of their enormous scale. However, as we go down south of India, Islamic art and architecture seem to be neglected, and very few studies have been carried out. Although these structures are known to be the very first Islamic structures in India, My research is set out to shed light on these little-known Islamic mosques in Kuttichara and to bring out the uniqueness of these buildings.
