Personal Biography
Aamna Azad is an accomplished architect, researcher, and PhD candidate at Qatar University, specializing in architecture and urban planning. She holds a PhD in Architecture (ongoing, with a CGPA of 3.87) and an MSc in Islamic Art, Architecture & Urbanism from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, where she graduated with honors. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the National University of Science & Technology, Pakistan.
Aamna's research is deeply rooted in the cultural and architectural heritage of the broader Muslim world. She is particularly focused on the development of global design standards for women’s spaces in mosques, a project she leads as a Junior Research Fellow at the Al Mujadilah Center & Mosque for Women.
Her contributions extend to publications and presentations at international conferences, where she has addressed topics such as climate resilience, community accessibility, and the interplay between Islamic values and architecture. Aamna's work is recognized for its innovative use of data-driven analysis and its commitment to preserving the historical and cultural narratives of the Muslim world.
