Role/Contribution

to trace the evolution of Islamic mosque architecture and explore its future forms. This involves creating unique and innovative designs that reflect Islamic identity, local distinctiveness, and meet the needs of the future. By utilizing symbolic and visual elements, new and creative ways can be found to express the Islamic vision. Additionally, incorporating modern technology and innovations can enhance the interaction between mosques and the local communities they serve, as they represent the spirit and heart of Islamic societies. This can be achieved through the development of interactive smart mosque models and eventually, interactive living models that incorporate sustainable building materials and construction methods within an interactive design framework

Paper Abstract

Abstract: Throughout its long history, mosques have served as beacons guiding the ships of Islamic civilization, representing its spiritual essence and playing a vital role in shaping Islamic culture. They have evolved with time, showcasing Islamic architecture through their unique identity and design. Today, Islamic mosque architecture stands out with its distinctive blend of technology and tradition, evident in both its external and internal details. With advancements in construction techniques and sustainable building materials, such as smart and interactive materials using nanotechnology for air purification, thermal insulation, and efficient water and energy utilization, the future of mosque architecture is poised for transformation. As social and technological developments unfold, there is a growing need to reimagine the designs of future mosques. It is important to note that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to Islamic mosque architecture, as it encompasses a global center with multiple local perspectives. The aim of this research is to trace the evolution of Islamic mosque architecture and explore its future forms. This can be achieved through the development of interactive smart mosque models and eventually, interactive living models that incorporate sustainable building materials and construction methods within an interactive design framework .To achieve this goal, the methodology employed relies on the analytical study of technological advancements and their future prospects. It also involves deductive analysis of future mosque models and inductive analysis of mosque history. The analysis also revolves around the flexibility of designs in future mosques, to meet the aspirations and needs of the worshippers .One of the key findings of this research is that the semiotics of future mosque architecture presents an opportunity to provide renewed and innovative designs that reflect Islamic identity in new ways. The designs should be flexible and adaptable to future developments and the needs of the Muslim community
